Rena Ethel (Meadows) Miller Garrett, age 81, entered the gates of Heaven on Tuesday, August 7th, 2018 in Findlay, Ohio. Rena Ethel was born June 1st, 1937 in Katy Friend, Prestonsburg, Floyd County, Kentucky to Johnny Meadows and Bessie Rose Meadows. On February 4th, 1954 she married Leander Miller who preceded her in death just days before their 50th wedding anniversary. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her second husband, Jim Garrett, and son, Johnny Earnest Miller.

Rena Ethel leaves behind three children: sons, Leander Jr. (Debra) Miller of Findlay, Ohio, Randy (Kathy) Miller of Jackson, Ohio; daughter, Rena Lee (Bobby) Peters of McArthur, Ohio; five grandchildren: Eric Miller, Leanna (Matt) McGuire, Natalee (Wyatt) Andrews, Casey Peters, and Georgia Miller; five great-grandchildren: Jenessa Miller, Eric Lee Miller, Madie Miller, Logan McGuire, and Haylee McGuire. She had such a love for her children and grandchildren. She cherished every opportunity she had with them.

Rena Ethel was a devoted member of Bethel Ridge Baptist Church in Jackson County, Ohio since 1960. During her 58 years at Bethel, she worked tirelessly ministering to others through delivering food, love, and prayers to shut-ins and others in need. She had a deep faith in Christ and a love for church and old gospel hymns. She greatly enjoyed visiting several area churches. She will certainly be remembered for the love and humbleness she exhibited everywhere she went.

Rena Ethel never met a stranger. She always made everyone feel welcome and loved. She loved the simpler things in life and had many hobbies. She was an amazing cook, gardened and canned, crocheted and quilted, and crafted handmade gifts. Her hilarious personality and gentle spirit have made an impression on the lives of so many and will never be forgotten.

Family and friends may call on Friday, August 10th, 2018 from 5-10PM at Bethel Ridge Baptist Church under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Rena Ethel’s life will be held on Saturday, August 11th, 2018 at 11AM at the church officiated by Brother Henry Ward.
