Eva Faye (Lewis) Howell, born February 20, 1929, died August 25, 2020 at Holzer Hospital in Gallipolis. She was born in Oak Hill (Pyro), Ohio and spent the first five years of her life in Hitchens, Kentucky. The daughter of Elizabeth and James Lewis, she moved back to Ohio after her mother’s death and was raised by her sister, Mae Lambert and her husband Tommy. Eva graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1948 and married Donald C. Howell on April 20, 1952. They made their home on Washington Street where they raised three children, Sally Howell Johnson, Brian Clair (Clarissa) Howell, and Jason Bradley (Michelle) Howell. She believed being a mother was the most important part of her life and doted on her children and grandchildren, Gretchen, Colin, Evan, Mason, Shane, James, and her great-granddaughter, Genevieve. She also loved her special nieces and nephews, Vicki Howell Williams, Jon Miller, Don Miller, and Lindsay Pierpont. Eva was a baker extraordinaire and loved showering people with food at any occasion. She was a member of St Paul’s United Methodist Church in Oak Hill where she cherished her friends and her faith.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, August 28th, 2020 at 2:00 PM at St. Paul’s in Oak Hill with visitation immediately prior from 12:00-2:00 PM. Burial will follow at C.M. Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Per CDC guidelines and governor recommendations, everyone is asked to wear a mask indoors and practice proper social distancing procedures and guidelines.
