Ora Evelyn (Salyer) Pennington “Nanny”, age 93, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2019. She was born March 10, 1926 in Staffordsville, KY to the late Ross and Grace (LeMaster) Salyer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Pennington, and her daughters, Rita Waller and Donna Brown McNeal, and her grandson, Jamie Pennington.

Nanny is survived by her sons, James Pennington, and Bryce (Colleen) Pennington; her grandchildren, Sandy (Tom), Michelle, Cheri (Jeff), Bryce, Autumn (Dan), Jamie (Ryan), and Brandon (Megan); her great grandchildren, Josh, Jon (Brentney), Jake, Cole, Becky, Faith, Audrey, Alyssa, Briana, Cayden, and Gabriel; and five great great grandchildren, and many family and friends.

Anyone that knew Nanny, knew that she was feisty, honest, funny, bold, and tender. She was a force.

Her family and friends will tell and listen to hundreds of stories about her, laugh and cry at the memories, and be thankful we had such an amazing, fiery woman in our lives.

She loved “ honky tonkin”, bowling, traveling, archery, watching her hummingbirds, bingo, gambling, and most of all spending time with her family and friends.

Nanny had a very fulfilling life, and was blessed enough to see her great great grandchildren. Her fire will live on for generations to come!

Friends may call Friday, April 26, 2019 from 11-1 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in The Pennington Family Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
