Paul Dean Hall, age 81, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, February 17th, 2024 surrounded by family. He was born on February 3, 1943 in David, Kentucky, to the late James and Della (Kendrick) Hall.

Paul married his high school sweetheart, Janet (Jenkins) Hall, at 17 years old. Soon after, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. He served for four years while stationed in California where he began his family of five.  After serving his country he moved with his family back to Ohio where he worked for GM, Lucasville Penitentiary and worked in various carpentry and construction positions, building homes, businesses, and bridges. Paul was also a skilled wood craftsman. His projects included cabinets, furniture and vases. During the last 35 years of his life, he built and sold pre-nineteenth century firearms from his wood shop, which he operated with the help of two of his grandsons.

Paul had many interests and hobbies, including hunting, mushrooming, and most of all fishing.  In his later years he spent much of his time with his family. He shared many funny stories of his life. He liked reminiscing about his childhood adventures, times with lifelong friends, and his Lake Cumberland fishing trips with his friends and son Kerry.

Paul was an honest hard-working man with a quick wit and a no bull attitude. He was very caring and would rather give than receive. He loved his family deeply and cherished every moment that he could spend with them. His grandchildren brought him the greatest joy and pride.  He especially liked teaching them how to fish and sharing any knowledge he could with them. In his recent years when he had more time, he liked to bird watch, read and work puzzles with his family.

Some of Paul’s last words were “I’ve had a good life.  I’ve really had a good life.”.  Because of Paul and Janet and their life together, his children have had good lives too. Paul will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

Paul is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janet (Jenkins) Hall; his daughters, Tina (Dave) Davis, and Kim (Jeff) Brown; grandchildren: Blake Davis, Natalie Davis, Noah Davis, Diesha Condon, Kerri Ashli Barnes, Whitley Hall, Kole Hughes, Kyle Hughes, Alicia Brown, and Courtney Rampolla; great-grandchildren: Jibreel Hall, Jala Barnes, Cruz Condon, Dane Condon, Anthony Clifton, Blaine Brown, Claya Hughes, Charlotte Hughes, and Ethan Rampolla.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his sister, Shelba (Hall) Berryman and his son, Kerry Hall.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 24th, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Oak Hill, Ohio.  Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Hughes officiating.  A burial with military honors will follow in Hamilton Cemetery.
