Shane Austin Cook, age 51, of Jackson, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, May 7th, 2025 after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Shane was born on May 17th, 1973 in Cincinnati, Ohio to parents Lester "Buddy" Cook and Donna (Armstrong) Cook. He was attending Grove City High School when he met his wife, Violet, at their place of work. They were married on June 7th, 1991 after welcoming their first child, Kimberly into the world. In the following years, they would have two more children, Samantha and Steven, to complete their loving family.

Shane was a devoted husband and father who strived to bring joy into everyone’s life. He was full of laughter and brought a smile to the faces of everyone around him with his quick wit and jokester personality. His love of superheroes, Star Wars, and fantasy/sci-fi kept him young at heart. An avid 49ers fan from a young age, he made sure to root for his team each game much to the dismay of his Packers-fan wife.

Shane’s battle with pancreatic cancer over the last two years was made bearable with the arrival of his two grandchildren, Gavriel and Finley. He loved to play with the boys, smother them with kisses, and tickle them until they got the hiccups. Spending time with his children and grandchildren was one of his greatest joys in life. Shane would always go out of his way to help his family or a friend in need. His joy will live on in the hearts of everyone that he loved and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Violet (Mills) Cook; their three children: Kimberly (Cook) Wyant, Samantha Cook, and Steven Cook; his two grandchildren, Gavriel and Finley Christian; his father, Lester "Buddy" Cook; and his siblings, Richie and Tony Cook, and Tiffany Gilliland-Alexander.

Shane was a loving father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed terribly by all, but can now rest peacefully after his two-year battle.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 12th, 2025, from 5-7PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson, Ohio. Online condolences may be sent to lewisgillum.com
