Ruby Louise (Donaldson) Gilliland, age 79, of Oak Hill, Ohio passed from this life to her Heavenly home on April 10th, 2024, at Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Ruby was born August 28th, 1944, in Jackson, Ohio to the late Charles Haden and Slena Nelson (Martin) Donaldson.

 

Ruby was a 1962 graduate of Jackson High School. She worked at the FSA office for 10 years and retired in 2008 with 32 years of service with the Soil and Water Conservation district of Jackson.

 

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Roger Lee Gilliland of Oak Hill, Ohio; son, Ryan Gilliland of Oak Hill, Ohio; sister, Barbara Joy (Gary) Evans; brothers-in-law, Ted Yates and Dale (Karen) Gilliland; sisters-in-law, Marilyn White, Linda (Paul) Berridge, Donna Crabtree, and Karen (Rich) McCall; as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Reitta Donaldson and Anna Francis Yates; father and mother-in-law, Warren F. and Mabel R. Gilliland; brothers-in-law, Ron White and David Crabtree; great-nephews, David Crabtree II.

 

Ruby attended the Nazarene Church at an early age and the Hamilton Christian Church where she was active with the youth ministry.

 

She had a witty sense of humor, a bubbly personality, and she never met a stranger.

 

Ruby loved to crochet. You would find her at the Jackson County Apple Festival with all the beautiful afghans, purses, hats, and scarves that she lovingly made. She enjoyed donating her handmade hats and scarves to the Shoe Box Ministry as well as donating hats to newborns born at Holzer Hospital.

 

Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 15th, 2024, from 11AM-1PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will immediately follow at the funeral home with Larry Boggs officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Cemetery, 236 Lenhart Rd, Oak Hill, OH 45656.
