Rosemary Ross Hughes, age 85, of Oak Hill went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 7, 2022. She was born July 11, 1937, in Scioto county. She was the daughter of the late Cecil and Marcella McCollister.
Rosemary worked at Martings Dept. Store in Portsmouth for many years, and at Lazarus in Columbus after being transferred. After moving to Oak Hill in 1984, she worked at Walmart and Engraving Plus, before retiring. She was a longtime member of the Oak Hill Festival of Flags Committee. Rosemary loved God and her church and was currently a member of Christ in Christian Union Church in Oak Hill. She found joy in music and along with her husband, Jack, ministered throughout Jackson County.
Rosie is survived by her husband, Jack Hughes. They were able to share comfort and love for the last 15 years. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Betty McCollister; nieces, Vickie (Doug) Timmons, Robin (Sam) Phillips, and Holly (Art) Doll; and nephews, Jeffrey McCollister, and Jeffrey (Dawn) Cisco.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving and devoted first husband, of 42 years, Charlie Ross; adored brother, Cecil McCollister; niece, Shirley (Chuck) Spellman; and close cousins, Ponney and Marilyn Cisco.
Public visitation will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2022, from 11-1 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 with Pastor Fred Crabtree officiating. Burial will follow in Rosemount Cemetery in Portsmouth. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
