Robert Amos "Dewey" Cantor, age 92, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024. The son of the late Dewey and Sarah (Kelly) Cantor, Robert was born on May 21st, 1931, in Jackson, Ohio. Robert served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After many years, he retired from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, #317 as a lineman electrician. Robert was a long-time member of Black Diamond Lodge #538 Free and Accepted Masons in Wellston, Ohio.
He was a loving father and a proud Pap to seven grandkids and ten great-grandkids. Robert loved spending time with his family. He had a passion for taking care of his yard and attending to his large garden. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. In his later years he loved porch sitting while enjoying the outdoors. He was a very kind-hearted man and never met a stranger.
Robert will be sadly missed by his beloved family surviving him: Daughters, Kenetha McCain, Kimberly Graham (Todd), Kathy Sheffield (Randy), and Katrina (Joseph) Deck; sister, Gladys Moon; grandchildren: Brianna McIntire (Skillet), Sara (Jeremy) Helphenstine, Eric (Tara) Graham, Kari Sheffield, Jill Deck, and Jennifer (Nathaniel) Morabito; great-grandchildren: Clayton, Noah, Macie, Matthew, Dylan, Devan, Landon, Garrett, Hannah, and Kyla; and good friend, Ellen Luster.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-four years, Garnet Cantor; one grandson, Kyle Sheffield; and siblings: Mahala Cantor, Betty Lewis, Janet Warren, Clara Bow Whaley, Patty Eisnaugle, Roger Cantor, Ella Sue Gillum, and Zella Ann Cantor.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024, from 12-1:45PM with Masonic Services at 1:45PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2PM with Pastor Stan Howard officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
