Mina Bell “Crystal” (Mullins) Riley, age 77, of Jackson, Ohio passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023. Crystal was born on May 29, 1946 in Wellston, Ohio to the late William “Bill” and Betty (Davis) Mullins. Crystal is survived by her sons, Jack (Donna) Riley of Dayton, Ohio and Shawn (Jobe) Riley of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandsons: Beau (Stephanie) Riley of Columbus, Ohio, Jack Honaker and Stephen Honaker both of Jackson, Ohio; granddaughters: Evelyn Riley, Coraline Riley, and Abeliene Riley all of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister, Geneva Hutchinson; brother, Ronnie Mullins; and many nieces and nephews.


Crystal was preceded in death by her husband, “Smilin” Jack D. Riley; daughter, Crystal “Crissie” Honaker; son-in-law, John Honaker; brothers, Allen Mullins, Winford Mullins, Larry Mullins, and Randy Mullins; sisters, Carolyn Hartley, Ruth Byers, Sharon Jones, and Connie Marhofer.

Crystal was born the middle child of eleven siblings near Buckeye Furnace in southeastern Ohio. At the age of 16 Crystal married the love of her life, the late “Smilin” Jack D. Riley. They were married for 54 years before Jack’s passing. Crystal devoted her life to taking care of others. She took special care of her three grandsons and daughter, Crissie, especially later in life. Crystal was delighted by the arrival of her three granddaughters, finally adding some girls to the family. In addition to her own three children, Crystal helped raise every other kid in the holler. Crystal was a lifelong believer and attended a variety of churches including the First Baptist Church of Jackson and Christ Church of Jackson. Crystal spent the years her children were growing up supporting the local schools and youth athletics. She enjoyed traveling, taking an annual family vacation, and a special girl’s trip with her sisters. Her hobbies included gardening, enjoying the outdoors, and taking Jack’s phone calls. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, from 1-3PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. A celebration of life will be held immediately following at 3PM with Rev.
