Lloyd Rose, age 79, of Jackson, Ohio passed away Sunday, May 5th, 2024, at his home. He was born June 11th, 1944, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to the late Jess and Alice (Miller) Rose. He was a graduate of Jackson High School.

 

After high school in 1965 he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany where he was a tank driver. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he met and married JoAnn Robinson. To this union a daughter, Shelly, and a son, Steven, were born, making them a family.

 

Lloyd worked various jobs including Goodyear of Jackson, Detroit Steel, and then retired after serving Liberty Township as a road and maintenance worker.

 

He enjoyed farming, camping, and anything outdoors. But most important to him was his family and God. Lloyd was a faithful member of Bethel Ridge Church where he was a lifelong deacon.

 

Besides his wife JoAnn, he is survived by his daughter, Shelly (Ryan) Rose; son, Steven (Shawn) Rose; grandchildren: Cassandra (Hunter) Wright, Camryn Rose, and Caleb Rose; great-grandchildren: Kinsley Wright and Grayson Wright; siblings: Brenda (Jim) Pennington, Linda (Danny) Sparks, and Juanita Brown; sisters-in-law, Janet Bapst and Becky Burns; brother-in-law, Richard (Lynn) Robinson; family friend, Cindy Lundy; along with many uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by mother-in-law, Gladys Robinson; infant sibling, Thomas Rose; brothers, Floyd (Debbie) Rose; brothers-in-law, Allan Brown, Jacob Bapst, Tom Robinson, and Anthony (Lena) Robinson; sister-in-law, Jan Parker; nephews, Mark Bapst and Matt Rose; niece, Naomi Bapst; and special friends, Jess Lyon and Oscar Bachtel.

 

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 10th, 2024, from 11AM-2PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson with a funeral service immediately after at 2PM with Rodney Bapst officiating. A burial with military honors will follow at Bethel Ridge Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
