Larry E. Maddy, age 79, of Oak Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Southern Ohio Medical Center Hospice in Portsmouth. He was born June 18, 1942, in Ironton, Ohio to the late Genevieve (Waddle) Maddy and the late Shirl Everett Maddy.
He is survived by his wife, Jerri (Parsons) Maddy; son, Larry (Misty) Maddy; and daughter, Angie (Rick) Adkins; three grandsons, Brad Miller, Andy (Leah) Miller, and Branson Maddy, all of Oak Hill; eight great grandchildren, Wyatt, Ayden, Emma, Maelyn, Liam, Lily, Rosie, and Paul. Also surviving are four brothers, Dale (Bonnie) Maddy, Tim (Beverly) Maddy, Bill Maddy and Roger (Rayetta) Maddy; three sisters, Cathy (Les) Cremeens, Shirley Lewis and Cindy (Joe) VanMeter and many nieces and nephews.
Larry served in the United States Army from 1964-1966. He taught Sunday school for many years. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great great grandfather. He retired from General Heating and Air Conditioning in Flatwoods, Ky in 2009. He collected comic books and loved watching old westerns. He owned and operated World of Comics in Ironton in the late 80’s. Larry always looked forward to the Roy Rogers convention every year. He had a great sense of humor and was loved by all. Larry will be greatly missed.
Public graveside services will be held Monday, March 21, 2022 at 2:00 at C.M. Cemetery in Oak Hill with pastor Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
