John Thomas Kranyik, age 82, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia. He was born October 2, 1940, in Nelsonville, Ohio to the late Mike and Emma Belle (Pierce) Kranyik.
John was a graduate of Chauncy High School where he was inducted as graduate of the year in 2014. He had a 50-year membership with the Carpenters Local #437. He was inducted in the Athens High School Hall of Fame in 2004-2005. He was a member of Trimble Masonic Lodge #557. He was a referee for high school football for 30 plus years.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, John Michael (Mike) Kranyik; and daughter, Missy Farley.
He is survived by his companion Bonnie Sue Grimes; children, Jodi (Geoff) Cowart, Shelly Kranyik, Andy Kranyik, and Marty (Debbie) Grimes; grandchildren, Josh Kranyik, Amanda Kranyik, Austen (Marie-Andree) Galentine, Emma Cowart, Cassie Grimes, Kate (Connor) Kelley, Corey (Thomas) Scaggs, Madison (Josh) Diliberto and Drew Grimes. He is also survived by a great grandson, Carter Scaggs.
John was employed by King Contracting (KCI) of Jackson.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 18, 2022, from 4-8 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Owen Stotts officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Nelsonville, Ohio.
