James Clifford “Jr.” Rister, age 76, of Wellston, Ohio, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 5th, 2024, at Adena Hospital in Chillicothe. He was born November 9, 1947, in Ironton, Ohio, to the late Irene (Sprouse) and Clifford Rister.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marsha (Fisher) Rister,' daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Dale Puckett; one sister, Sandy; and one brother, Danny (Jo) Rister. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Rani, Dalton, Tarra, Robert, Trenton, and McKenzie; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sons, Christopher and Johnnie; and two brothers, Mike and Ray Rister.
“Jr.” as he was called by family and friends loved watching westerns on TV, spending time with the kids, and loved playing cards with friends while spending winters in Florida for the last 19 years.
At his request, he will be cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum funeral Home of Oak Hill. A memorial service will be held with military honors on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 12:00 PM at C.M. Cemetery in Oak Hill. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
