Everett Shepard Grow, age 74, of Jackson, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on October 14, 1950, to the late Edwin and Dorothy Grow.
He graduated from Jackson High School in 1968 and married his high school sweetheart, Deborah Sue McGhee on December 6, 1968. Everett was an avid hunter and was an active Jackson Jaycee for many years. As a Jaycee for most of his life, he enjoyed putting on his red shirt and building and volunteering at the Jackson County Apple Festival each year. He retired from the Piketon Uranium Enrichment Plant where he worked as a Maintenance Mechanic for over 30 years. Everett also enjoyed playing the Lottery and was an avid gambler, enjoying trips to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and the dog track with his late wife and their friends.
Everett is survived by his sister, Janice (Cal) Calderia of Hartford, Connecticut; his daughter, Tina (Darren) Mapes of Jackson, Ohio; son, Chad (Julie) Grow of Logan, Ohio; grandchildren: Darren and Dillon Mapes and Gracen Grow; brothers-in-law, Chuck McGhee, Eddie (Sharon) McGhee, Gary (Norma) McGhee, Rick McGhee, and Donnie McGhee; sister-in-law, Etta McGhee; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his little dog, Charlie.
Along with his parents, Everett was preceded in death by his loving wife, Deborah Sue Grow; brother, Bill Grow; and sister, Sharon Grow; sisters-in-law: Vicky McGhee, Tammy McGhee, Diane Martin, and Joanne and Sis McGhee; brother-in-law, Roger McGhee; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charles “Bus” and Daisy (Vititoe) McGhee.
Friends will be received on Sunday, February 2nd, 2025, from 2PM-6PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home, 28 Harding Avenue, Jackson, OH 45640. Additional calling hours will be held on Monday, February 3rd, 2025, from 12PM-2PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 2PM with Pastor Butch Cooper officiating with a burial after at Fairmount Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
