Charles David “Charlie Dave” Johnson or just “Charlie”, of Jackson, Ohio passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio at the age of 72.  He was born August 15, 1952, in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Bill L. and Anna Jean (Wickline) Johnson. 

 

Charlie was part of the JHS graduating class of 1970.  After, he attended Cincinnati Business College.  He was a member of the United States Air Force from 1971-1981.  He served his country in Germany, Korea, Washington D.C., Dover, Delaware, and Cheyenne, Wyoming.  Charlie lived in Jackson, Ohio from 1981-2021, where he made countless friends.  He was a member of the Jackson Jaycees, Disabled American Veterans Chapter #45, Jackson Amvets Post 84, and the Jackson First Presbyterian Church of Jackson.  Charlie called Bingo at the DAV for many years, he also served as honor guard chaplain for the DAV for numerous years. 

 

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Judy (Rich) Taylor; nieces and nephews: Shawn Taylor, Courtney (Connor) Campbell, Chad (Staci) Taylor, Max Taylor, Sam Taylor, Ben Taylor, Lili Taylor, and Eli Taylor. 

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Nora (Hensley) Johnson, Charles Wickline and Viola Jones Wickline, and David Scott Hutchison.    

 

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 4th, 2025, from 1PM-3PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. A service will follow at 3PM with Pastor John Birkner officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery with military honors provided by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #45
