Bus “Slim” Gilbert Daniels, age 75, passed away May 9th, 2024, at his residence in Jackson, Ohio. He was born January 10th, 1949, in Clay County, West Virginia to the late Lovell and Pansy (Mays) Daniels.
He was a proud coal miner, the only job he ever had. He was employed with Southern Ohio Coal for 31 years. He enjoyed driving around in his old ’66 Chevy pickup.
Slim loved his family and friends. He was very generous and never met a stranger. He was one of the good ones.
He is survived by his wife, Dollie Daniels of Jackson, Ohio; sons: Adam (Karla) Daniels of Missouri and Daniel Daniels of Jackson, Ohio; daughters, Andrea (Demian) Piotti of New York and Jenny (Jay) Baker of Missouri; stepdaughter, Tammy Haselip (Val Anderson) of Jackson, Ohio; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Patty Fisk of New York, Bonnie Mudge of New York, Effie (Dannie) Butcher of West Virginia, Judy Daniels of New York, and Peggy Cottrel of West Virginia; brothers: Ronald (Sue) Daniels of New York, Mark Daniels of West Virginia, and Pete (Bonnie) Daniels of New York; sister-in-law, Janie DeHart of Springfield, Ohio; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Mary) Pitts of Jackson, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Slim was preceded in death by an infant son; one great-grandson; and sisters: Hazel Woods, Betty Robinson, and Jewel Tanner.
Per Slim’s wishes, he will be cremated, and no public services will be held. His ashes will be taken back home to Clay County, West Virginia. Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
