Artie Noel Cooper, age 86, passed away Tuesday, January 9th, 2024. He was born December 23rd, 1937, in Scioto County, Ohio to the late Alvin and Abbie (Fulk) Cooper.
Artie worked 20 dedicated years at Hanes Chevrolet as a Certified GM technician where customers loved him dearly and would ask for him specifically to work on their vehicles. In his spare time, his love of hunting, fishing, woodworking, and lawn mower repairs kept him busy. You could often find him outside working on a lawnmower that someone had brought over for him to fix. If he couldn’t fix it, it was most likely not fixable.
He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Lucilla (French) Cooper of Oak Hill, Ohio; son, Randy D. (Angela) Cooper of Portsmouth, Ohio; daughters, Kimberly J. Smith of Jackson, Ohio and Valerie D. (Danny) Rawlins of Wheelersburg, Ohio; grandchildren: Ryan and Austin Rawlins, Katie and Autumn Cooper, Samantha Jo (Jason) Marazzi, and Morgan Castle; great-grandchildren: Kylie Rawlins, Isaiah and Aubree Akers, Adler and Ario Marazzi; as well as his brothers, Ronnie Cooper of Huber Heights, Ohio and Terry (Trina) Cooper of South Webster, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Neddie “Bo”, Ithiel, and Alvin “June”; his sisters, Myrna and Wilma; as well as son-in-law, Greg Smith.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 14th, 2024, from 2-4PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 15th, 2024, at 12PM at the funeral home with burial to follow at Horeb Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
