Roger Dwight Jones, age 93, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Edgewood Manor in Wellston. He was born December 29, 1925 in Jackson to the late Homer E. and Merle (Martindale) Jones.

Roger was a Jackson High School graduate of the class of 1943. He then went on to serve in the United States Army in World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel Avis (Knight) Jones; sisters, Shirley (Davis) Taylor, Judith (Curt) Wiggins and Donna Sue Jones; and his brother, David A. (Kay) Jones; special nephew, Scotty (Mary) Pike and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Margaret Griffith, Elizabeth Jane Gilliland, Marilyn Jean Gillum, Ann Marie Herb, Elinor Louise Crabtree, Patsy Ruth Denney; and his brother, Richard Lee Jones.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson with Rev. Shelley Wiley officiating and military services provided by the DAV Chapter 45 of Jackson and the United States Army Honor Guard. No public calling hours will be observed.
