Norma Jean Burd, age 72, of Jackson, Ohio passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 24th, 2018. She was born September 17th, 1946 in Jackson, Ohio to Orin and Charlene (Landrum) Haynes.
Norma was a 1964 graduate of Jackson High School. She attended Rutledge College in Huntington, WV where she obtained her Associates Degree. She was a former Dispatcher Deputy Sharpshooter for the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and worked at and retired from the Jackson County Health Department’s Help Me Grow Program. She was an avid crocheter and made her family members “the most comfortable” Chuck Taylors, Reebok Pumps, and Air Jordans. She attended Grace Baptist Fellowship of Wellston. She loved her family and friends, her church family, and her dog, Roxy.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Lyle Keith Burd; children: Ronnie Brewer, Sally Jo Brewer, Richie E. Owens (Shianna L. Lyall), Misty (T.J. Jr.) Moore, Keith (Maekayla) Burd, Benji Burd, Moses Burd Sr.; grandchildren: Clayton Brewer, Aimee Brewer, Vanessa White, Richard Bruce Owens, Gideon Wolford, Gracie Wolford, Elizabeth Wolford, Brittany Womeldorf, Breanna Moore, Nicholas Burd, Tristen Burd, Jaden Burd, Presley Burd, Moses (Cheylin) Burd Jr., Kyli Burd, Eli Burd, Darius Burd, and Ashton Morris; nineteen great-grandchildren; siblings: Orie Haynes, Bus (Vicki) Haynes, Sheri Haynes (Bill Crabtree), Patty (John) Shephard, and Tom (Julie) Haynes; as well as several nieces, nephews, relatives, and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Orin Haynes and grandson, Orin Seth Brewer.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 28th, 2018 from 2-5PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 29th, 2018 at 1PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
