William Daniel "Dan" Goetz passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. He was born on November 26, 1948, in Marietta, Ohio, to William Carl Goetz and Dorothy Loella (Pabst) Goetz, who preceded him in death.
Dan is survived by Katherine "Jeanne" Tawney, his loving and devoted partner of 30 years; her daughters, Katherine Thompson (Dwight), Lorena Trott (Rob), and Cynthia Burke (Heath Loggins); eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his sister, Joan (Goetz) Moore.
Dan and Jeanne treasured their life together. They traveled throughout Ohio and across the United States whenever they could, creating many wonderful memories along the way. They also shared a love of antiquing and enjoyed collecting glass birds and other beautiful pieces of glassware.
Dan had many passions. He filled their yard with beautiful flowers, kept the bird feeders full so they could enjoy watching the birds, and loved photographing family and nature. He was also a talented and enthusiastic cook who delighted in preparing multiple dishes and desserts for family gatherings.
Music brought Dan great joy, especially playing his beloved organ. Jeanne cherished sitting in the living room and listening to him play.
Dan also deeply loved his furry best friends. He treasured the time he spent with Howie and Tui, who preceded him in death, and with his devoted companion, Daisy.
A memorial service celebrating Dan's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the First Presbyterian Church, 225 Church Street, Jackson, Ohio 45640. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson.
