Oak Hill

Stanley Kenneth Evans, age 69, of Oak Hill, passed away peacefully at his farm, where he resided most of his life. He was born May 1, 1956, in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Joseph “Josie” and Imogene (Burns) Evans.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Brenda (Lewis) Evans; children, Daniel (Jessica) Evans, of New Albany, Ohio; Johnna Evans (Rob Riddle), of New Albany; David (Kathrine) Evans, of Athens, Ohio; grandchildren: Joseph, Jackson and Audrey Evans, Stanley and Charlie Riddle, and Margaret Evans; siblings, Susan (Bob) Chemas, and Steve (Julie) Evans. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Stan graduated from Oak Hill High school in 1974, where he was a proud member of 4-H and the Oak Hill Football team. During high school, he worked as a grill cook at the Sausage Shop in Rio Grande, which he always told everyone was his most cherished job, a position he loved reminiscing about throughout his life, often sharing his memories of his beloved coworkers.

Stan began his career at The Ohio Company in 1983. He later worked at Merrill Lynch- where his successes led him to work in his beloved Pittsburgh where he became an avid Steelers fan; Memphis, where his family found their love for good barbecue; and New Albany, where his kids still reside.

Most of all, Stan was passionate about taking care of people. Through his caring guidance, thousands of clients were able to retire with peace of mind for their families. During his career, Stan was on the FINRA Dispute Resolution Board of Arbitrators and was deeply involved in the local community where he served on the Board of Trustees for the University of Rio Grande, Holzer Medical Center Foundation Board, the Welsh Advisory Board and the Moriah Church Cemetery Association, where he was also a lifetime congregation member.

Above all his career accolades and accomplishments, Stan was most proud of his tight-knit family. They enjoyed time spent together on their family Farm, traveling near and far, countless smiles and laughs, and all the adventures both big and small. He was blessed to spend ample time on The Farm where he was a passionate cook, an avid fisherman and gardener, and a master of smoking meats. He also enjoyed tending to his fruit trees, raising lambs, and taking long gator rides. His favorite way to end the day was sipping a nice glass of wine while overlooking the pond, with a good book, and his bride.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 4-8 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Oak Hill. Funeral services will be private. Interment will be in Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Moriah Cemetery Association, c/o Beth Lloyd, 596 Jim Reese Rd., Oak Hill, Ohio 45656. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
