Shirley Jean Aldridge

Shirley Jean Aldridge (Nonnie), age 86, of Jackson, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

Born on November 16, 1938, in Firebrick, Ohio to the late Cecil and Minnie (Smith) Chaney.

Shirley, a 1957 graduate of Jackson High School, married her high school sweetheart, William C. Aldridge, on March 12, 1960.

She worked for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS), which was an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture. After 37 years of service, she retired as the County Executive Director.

Shirley was an active member of the Jackson Christian Church, as well as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as a Worthy Matron, a District Grand Deputy, and a Grand Representative.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Allyson Jean Aldridge; granddaughter, Rosa Jean Aldridge; sister, Ruth Eileen Chaney; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. “Bill” Aldridge (Poppa); and siblings: Thelma Louise (Chaney) Chandler, Donald Edward Chaney Sr., Everett Chaney, Loren William Chaney, and Cecil Eugene Chaney.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 4PM-8PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 2PM at the Jackson Christian Church, 102 Broadway Street, Jackson, OH 45640. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
