Robert Howard Brisker

July 10, 1949 — May 17, 2026

Oak Hill

Robert Howard Brisker, age 76, went home to be with his Lord on May 17, 2026, at Holzer CCU surrounded by all of his loving family members. Robert was born July 10, 1949, in Oak Hill, Ohio. His parents were Robert Owen Brisker and Carrie Ruth (Howard) Brisker.

Bob was a 1967 graduate of Oak Hill High School and after graduation attended Columbus Business College, but this was interrupted by the Vietnam War. He enlisted in the Army and served as a medic, stationed in Germany.

After returning home from Germany, Bob met his wife of 54 years, Jennie Lynn (Johnson) Brisker. To this union were born three sons, Michael Paul Brisker, Christopher Scott Brisker, and Nathan Patrick Brisker. Shortly before their marriage on November 12, 1971, Bob began working for Oak Hill Banks where he was actively involved in the community. He took pride in working in a small community and retired from there after 30 years, leaving behind a work ethic of leadership, loyalty, and a great love for his hometown.

His father-in-law, Paul R. Johnson, began taking him on Canadian fishing trips. This started a love for fishing that was eternal. Bob’s love for the outdoors, whether hunting or fishing, was undaunted. In 2001, two years after retirement, he and Lynn purchased a home on Lake Barkley in Western Kentucky and he spent many many hours on the lake with family and friends. Whether he was in his bass boat fishing, or on the pontoon with family and the dogs, it became his haven of rest.

He was an avid sports fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cincinnati Reds, but one of his greatest players was his granddaughter, Caitlyn Brisker. She was a multi-sport athlete at Oak Hill High School and a four year softball player at the University of Rio Grande.

In his later years, when his health began to fail, he devoted his time to reading his Bible and serving his Vega Church. He loved donating to children’s groups, the food pantry, the Cancer Society, and anyone that was in need. He led the finances at Vega Church and regularly gave reports on their assets knowing that this was what Christ wanted him to do.

The poem by Tennyson which quotes: “Sunset and evening starAnd one clear call for me.May there be no moaning of the barWhen I put out to sea.”

Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jennie Lynn (Johnson) Brisker; sons, Michael (Rhonda) Brisker, Christopher Scott Brisker, Nathan (Katy) Brisker; grandchildren, Caitlyn Brisker, her friend Reid Schultz, Ella Brisker, and Enslea Brisker; great granddaughter Brynlee French; and special friend, Jeri Bentley; brothers, David (Jackie) and Paul (Libby), and sister, Anita (Jeff) Allen. Bob is also survived by his brother-in-law, Larry (Charlotte) Johnson, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Paul Robert Johnson, and mother-in-law, Roma Elizabeth (Harkins) Johnson.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 from 12-4 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM with Pastors Stan Howard and Josh West officiating. Burial will follow in Vega Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Growing Oaks, mail to Oaks United, PO Box 152, Oak Hill, Ohio 45656.
