Richard Dale Crabtree

Richard Dale Crabtree, age 75, passed away peacefully at his home in Franklin Valley, Jackson, Ohio.

Born on March 18, 1951, Rick was the son of the late Warren C. Crabtree and Beatrice L. Crabtree. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Terry L. Crabtree, and his sister, Donna J. Hughes. He graduated from Oak Hill High School, Class of 1969, and shortly after graduation was drafted into the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam War.

After returning home, Rick married Debby Evans Crabtree, and together they built a strong family and a wonderful life rooted in Franklin Valley.

Rick, known to many as “Papaw Ricky,” was a man of great personality and heart. He spent much of his time outdoors, where he found his greatest peace. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, quick wit, and unwavering love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Debby; his daughters, Sarah Crabtree Vollman (Paul Vollman) and Emily Crabtree (Andy Hall); and his grandchildren, Chloe Parsons, Christopher “CJ” Crabtree, Grant Vollman, and Owen Vollman. He is also survived by many loving family members, including his brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local charity or scholarship of your choice in Rick’s memory.
