Phyllis Elaine (Vaughn) Rose age 76, of Jackson passed from this life on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Holzer Medical Center of Jackson. She was born June 28, 1946, in Columbus, to Donald L. Vaughn and the late Anna Jane Vaughn.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Douglas Rose of Jackson; her son, Chris (Cindy) Rose, of Braselton, Georgia; her daughter, Laura (Chris) Armstrong, of Jackson; her grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris) Keibler, Bethany Armstrong, Carmella (Kody) Weese, Erin Rose, Brynn Rose, Jonah Armstrong; and great-grandson, Mateo Weese. She is also survived by her father, Donald L. Vaughn, of Jackson; her sister, Janet (Windell) Rose, of Jackson; sister-in-law, Emile Rose Grover, of Jackson; brother-in-law, James A. Rose, of Jackson, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She is predeceased by her mother, Anna Jane Vaughn; her mother and father-in-law, Vina and Isaac Rose.

Phyllis met the love of her life, Douglas when she was only 14. She and Douglas married in August of 1964, just 3 months after she graduated from high school. After she raised her children, she went to the University of Rio Grande and received her teaching degree, and was a teacher at Buckeye Hills Career Center, from which she retired in 2012. It touched her heart when former students would hug her wherever they met. She was also a local business owner, who collected friends like flowers over the years. She loved songs and singing and now has a huge new audience to entertain. She will be missed by those that love her.

Public visitation will be held Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 4-8 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will follow Friday, September 30, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Boggs officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
