Patricia Jean (Topping) Britton was born on August 16, 1938, in Ross County, Ohio. She passed away peacefully at her home in Jackson, Ohio, on Saturday, June 27, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Pat was a devoted wife, loving mother, and extraordinary grandmother. Her grandchildren affectionately called her “Honey,” a nickname that quickly became known and cherished by many others as well. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, spirited personality, and warm smile. Her wit, charm, and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She dedicated more than 30 years of service to the Jackson County Treasurer’s Office and was well known throughout the community. She was a familiar presence at the Jackson County Apple Festival, where she held the distinction of operating the festival’s longest-running booth. Pat was a gifted painter, talented wreath maker, and a skilled seamstress whose creativity touched many.
She is survived by her children: Jon G. Britton, Becky Jo Britton, Chip Britton (Mary Jo), and Barbie (Britton) McCathren; and by her cherished grandchildren: Zachary Neugebauer, Brittony Hinsch (Brett), Jocelyn Britton, Tim Britton, and Katie Jo McCathren.
Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Frank Britton; her parents, Herman and Lucille Topping; her sisters, Helen Conkel and Charlotte Hickman; and her brother, Ron Topping.
Although Honey will be missed, we are grateful for the memories she gave us, the lessons she taught us, and the love she shared so selflessly. “A life filled with love leaves a legacy that never fades.” Though she is no longer with us, her kindness, strength, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who worked so hard to help care for Honey. Your kindness and support meant so much to her and to our family.
A small graveside service under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson for family and close friends was held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, to honor and celebrate Honey’s life.
