Joshua Ryan Hopkins

Joshua Ryan Hopkins, age 49, passed away on January 11, 2026, at the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Born on March 31, 1976, Joshua was the beloved husband of Melinda Dawn (Pinson) Hopkins, with whom he shared over 20 years of love, laughter, and adventure. He was also a cherished son, brother, and friend to so many.

 Joshua was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He found solace and joy in the quiet moments spent by the water, casting a line, and enjoying the natural beauty of the world around him. A proud member of the Waverly community, Joshua’s kindness, willingness to help, and warm smile left an indelible mark on everyone he met. He was a dedicated family man who was always there for his loved ones, offering unwavering support and care. Joshua’s passing leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Melinda; daughter, Elizabeth (Jacob) Martinez; grandson, Jordan Martinez; his father, John Lynn Hopkins; his brothers, Ty Hopkins and Zack (Courtney) Hopkins; sisters-in-law Michelle (Scott) Tidwell and Melissa Sowers; nieces, Nevaeh Hopkins, Audrey Barnhart, and Lila Barnhart; nephews, Ethan (Candace) Hopkins, Noah Hopkins, Shaylor Barnhart, Justin Barnhart, Emerson Barnhart, Zach Ousley, and Ethan Sowers; great- nieces, Layne Hopkins, Bailey Hopkins, and Abigail Hopkins; and many dear friends.

Joshua was preceded in death by his mother, Debbie Lynn (Rethford) Hopkins; grandparents; and brother, Jeremy Lynn Hopkins.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral home in Jackson, Ohio. Calling hours will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., with the funeral immediately following at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
