John Thomas McCormick

John McCormick, age 62, passed away on August 4th, 2025. He was born to the late Vivian and Odis McCormick in Patriot, Ohio on September 16th, 1962. He had six sisters and eight brothers.

John loved to hunt, fish, and have cookouts. He enjoyed listening to music, especially by Asia. John would help anyone that asked and was a hard-working family man. He was a foster parent while also working at H&H Retreading and then worked with Ohio Valley Plastering until his retirement.

John loved his grandchildren and children more than anything, as well as his dog, Chester. He is survived and forever loved by his grandchildren: Brynnlyn Rose, Brennan Phoenix, Roselyn Marie, James Thomas, William Paul, Zoe Lynn, Brantley Colt, and Johnni Alexus; his children: Michael Paul, Tiffany Lynn, Kaylynn Sue, Curtis Lee, and Christopher John; his siblings: Brad (Connie), Paul (Tina), Jean Hook, Odis Jr “Butch” (Ruby), Valerie, Romona, Shawn (Theresa), and Shawna Massie; his ex-wife, Diana (Charles) McCormick; along with many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, James Thomas McCormick; his sisters, Cheryl Lynn and Nancy; his brothers, Presley, Dennis, Jimmy and Timmy; his nephews, David McCormick and Adam Ray Woods; and his nieces, Holly and Shelly.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 11th, 2025, from 12PM-2PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill with a service beginning at 2PM. Burial will follow at Gallia Baptist Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
