Georgeann Hawker

Georgeann Hawker, 97, of Jackson, Ohio went to live in her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. She was born on March 30, 1928, to the late George and Melissa (Sinclair) McGinnis.

Georgeann was the eldest of six. Her life was spent serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a long-time member of Vega Church, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school class, singing, and organizing dinners and programs. Later in life, after losing her husband, she then started attending Good Shepherd Wesleyan Church, where she was faithful until she no longer could attend. She cherished these memories greatly. In her final days, she still remained faithful and a strong prayer warrior. She could always be heard whispering a prayer for her family. She was also a devoted and loving homemaker to her family. She will be greatly missed by her son, Dr. Gregory P. (Carol) Hawker, and her daughter, Susanne (Jim) Walke. As a devoted grandmother, her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. Her grandchildren: Casey (Brian) Riley, Jamie Walke (Josh McCarty), Lauren (Nick) Penwell, Matthew (Jessica) Hawker, and Ty Walke (Cynthia); great grandchildren, Lexi, Boston, Madison, Lyndon and Lydia.

In addition to her parents, Georgeann was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Hawker; siblings, Darrell McGinnis, Betty Swingle, Larry McGinnis, and Eileen Booth.

She leaves behind her sister, Imogene Miller; and sister-in-law, Clara McGinnis; along with several nieces, nephews, and special friends.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all the wonderful staff at National Church Residences Hospice, along with the remarkable care she received from the staff at Four Winds during respite care.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, from 11-1 PM at Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 at the funeral home with Pastor Aaron Hines officiating. Burial will follow in Vega Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
