George Thomas "Tom" Patterson

George Thomas “Tom” Patterson, age 86, died 27 June 2026, at Mt. Carmel Hospital. Born 31 Aug 1939, in Jackson, Ohio the son of the late George W. Patterson and Virginia L. (Edwards) Patterson.

Tom grew up on the family farm learning his lifelong skills of a jack-of-all-trades from his father and grandfather. He attended Vega United Methodist Church. He was a lifelong member of the VFW. He also served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and retired from the railroad as a welder/machinist/electrician. Tom was passionate about riding his motorcycle whenever he could year-round.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janet L (Perkins) Patterson; son, Larry T. (Rita) Patterson of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Julie A. (James) Greene of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; grandchildren: Thomas D. (Lauren) Patterson of Hilliard, Ohio, Shelby M. Patterson of Dayton, Ohio, James A. (Gabby) Greene of Portsmouth, Virginia, David M. "Umbra" Greene of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and Jacqueline A. Greene of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; great-grandchildren: Blaire, Violet, Jamarcus, Rowan, Avery, and Audriella; brothers: Daniel Patterson of Sidney, Ohio and Edward (Rosealee) Patterson of Port Jefferson, Ohio; sisters: Clara McGinnis of Jackson, Ohio and Vivian Garside of Bluffton, South Carolina; as well as countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Larry D. Patterson and son, Paul D. Patterson.

Calling hours will be held on Friday 3 July 2026 from 1PM-3PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson with funeral services immediately after at 3PM. Graveside service and interment with military honors will follow at Vega Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
