Gary Lee Lemon, a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, passed away on December 27, 2023, in Decatur, Alabama.

The son of Pat & Ed Lemon, Gary grew up in Jackson, Ohio and graduated from Jackson High School. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the Army where he spent a 22-year career. During that time, he served in several posts, including as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne, a Drill Instructor at Ft. Dix, New Jersey, with the 1/36th Field Artillery Regiment in Augsburg, Germany, and eventually retired in 1994 as an E-7, Sgt. First Class at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Ed Lemon; his wife, Kathy Lemon; and his stepdaughter, Stephanie Beretta. He is survived by his sister, Hazel Rader; his brother, Stan Lemon; his children, Amanda L. White, Jessica L. Basset, and Gary Lee Lemon, Jr.; his stepdaughter, Shannon Beretta; and seven grandchildren.

A service honoring the life of Gary Lee Lemon will be held on 10:00 AM Friday, January 5, 2024, at Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home in Jackson, Ohio.  Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com .
