Elisabeth E. “Betsy” (McCarragher) Bink, age 71 of Oak Hill, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 21st, 2025, at Adena Regional Medical Center surrounded by her beloved family after a brief illness.
Betsy was born on June 8th, 1954, in Waterbury, Connecticut to the late Joseph and Barbara (Baker) McCarragher. She attended the Greer School near Millbrook, New York prior to Kennedy High School in Waterbury.
She met the love of her life, Clifford A. Bink, at age 17 and they married two years later on August 8th,1973 in Waterbury. The couple moved extensively, including Miami, Florida, New York, and Ft. Worth, Texas before residing in Dover, New Hapshire for many years as their children finished growing up. In August 1994, they relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida before their final move to Oak Hill, Ohio in March of 2006.
Betsy worked at Bellisio Food in Jackson, Ohio for a brief time prior to twelve years at General Mills in Wellston, Ohio. She retired in 2019 to enjoy life and spend more time with family.
Betsy was an amazing woman all around. When she was not spending time with her family, which was first and foremost, she could be found tinkering around on her property. She loved being outside especially in the spring, summer, and of course, the fall. She also loved the snow but not the cold. Her many hobbies included painting, especially her little garden sculptures. She loved playing cards and board games with her family in addition to word and puzzle games on her phone. She loved dogs and horses—her five beautiful St. Bernards will continue to be spoiled rotten by her family.
She is survived by her children, Christine (Clifford) Bench and James Bink (partner, Brittani) all of Oak Hill, Ohio; daughter by choice, Kara (Brian) Sturgill of South Webster, Ohio; grandchildren: Cody James Bink (fiancé, Makayla) of Rarden, Ohio, James Clifford Bink Jr. of Oak Hill, Ohio, Xander Snyder (fiancé Moriah) of Oak Hill, Ohio, and Kylee “Dani” Mannering, Gavin Mannering, and Addie Sturgill all of South Webster, Ohio.
We will remember her fondly. Together again, she and Cliff will watch over their great-grandsons, Easton James Bink of Rarden, Ohio and Malakai James Bink of Wellston, Ohio. Betsy also leaves behind her big brother, James (JoElla) McCarragher and niece, Barbara Jane McCarragher of Wilbraham, Massachusetts. Other people important to Betsy included her best friend of eighteen years, Nancy (Rasp) Long of Jackson, Ohio, and her maternal cousins—the Grays, the Merrimans, and the Hestons.
Besides her parents, Betsy was predeceased by her husband of forty -three years, Cliff; as well as several cousins.
Betsy lived a wonderful life with her family, free of regrets.
In accordance with her wishes, Betsy will be cremated and buried next to her husband under their favorite tree on their property. The family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date, likely in early summer of 2026.
