Carolyn Gene Spires

Carolyn Spires, age 82, of Oak Hill, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026. She was born on March 16, 1943.

Carolyn was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was defined by love, generosity and compassion. She cared deeply for everyone she met and never turned away someone in need. Her home was always open, and many will fondly remember sitting with her at the kitchen table, sharing conversation, laughter and comfort. Carolyn had a way of making people feel welcomed, heard and cared for, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Scott and Mary Jayjohn; her stepfather Lee “Pops” Jayjohn; her sons Michael Adkins and Clyde (Ricky) Adkins; her beloved grandson, Douglas Starcher Jr; her brother Clyde (Butch) Scott; sisters Marilyn Shanyfelt and Flo-Ann Buzzard.

Carolyn is survived by her loving children, sons Jimmy & Randy Spires, and daughter Deborah Hammond. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, whom she adored, Billy and Jasmine Adkins, Ty Ty Hammond, Ashley Adkins, Tessie Adkins, Mikey Adkins and Destinee Spires, along with several great-grandchildren. Among them were her great-grandsons, Willie and Frankie Adkins, who held an especially close place in her heart.

Service details will be posted at a later date. The family is requesting donations to help cover the cost of services, which made be paid directly to the funeral home. The family has also set up a Gofundme in her honor.

Carolyn’s legacy of love, kindness, and open-hearted generosity will live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched.
