With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Carl E. Coy. Carl passed on Wednesday, July 1st, 2026, at the Cleveland Clinic after a lengthy battle with his health. Carl was born December 19th, 1952, in McArthur, Ohio to the late Theodore and Dorothy (McCumber) Coy.
Carl lived a life marked by resilience, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. He was a man who showed his love not only through words, but through his actions. He was always willing to give advice, lend a hand, or simply be there when he was most needed.
Carl was a graduate of Wellston High School. He worked as a long-haul truck driver for 43 years before retiring. Together with his wife, Vicky, he enjoyed traveling. They spent time camping, cruising, and going to the beach. Carl always joked.... “I look better under a palm tree.” They also enjoyed the NHRA both on TV and in person.
Spending time with his family was a priority and Carl enjoyed making them smile. He was known to dress up as Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny at various times. He also enjoyed relaxing on his porch, but one of his favorite things to do was watch Gunsmoke. He would watch it for hours every day and enjoy each episode.
Though Carl’s earthly journey has come to an end, his family finds comfort in knowing the love he gave will continue to live on through every life he touched. His laughter, his lessons, and his memories will forever guide those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Carl is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Vicky Coy; his beloved children, daughter, Amanda Coy (Pete); sons, David Davidson (Katie) and Shane Davidson; his precious grandchildren whom he adored, Sebastian Detty and Casey Davidson; his siblings, Jim (Lucretia) Coy and Dennis Coy; as well as several nieces and nephews, numerous friends, and his favorite fur-buddy, Jackson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Everett Coy and his sisters, Diane Johnson and Sharon Hill.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7th, 2026, from 11AM-3PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson with a service immediately following at 3PM. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
