Lesley Wayne Merrick was born May 10, 1966, in Portsmouth, Ohio and passed from this life June 3, 2025, at his home in Columbus, Ohio. He was the son of the late Lawrence D. Merrick, Sr. and Betty L. (Downey) Merrick of Columbus, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence D. Merrick, Jr., his grandparents, Frank Merrick of Jackson, Ohio, Ruie (Fairchild) Merrick of Wellston, Ohio, Albert and Ethel (Harrison) Downey of Coalton, Ohio, along with many beloved Aunts and Uncles.
Lesley is survived by his sisters, Lila (Bruce) Penner of Carlton, Minnesota, Linda (the late Larry) Merrick of Blytheville, Arkansas, and Lynn Merrick of Columbus, Ohio, along with many nephews, nieces and cousins that he held dear.
He was employed for a time at The Columbus Metropolitan Library and Defense Finance and Accounting Service in Columbus, Ohio. He was an avid reader and could complete a book with lightning speed. He loved to read to both generations of his nieces and nephews. Lesley loved God. He loved to worship his Savior to the best of his limited ability. Life was a challenge for Les, but he never complained and faced each new battle with bravery and determination. He will be deeply missed by many.
Visitation hours will be held Friday, June 6, 2025, from 4-8 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home 28 Harding Avenue, Jackson Ohio 45640. The funeral will be held June 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Condon officiating. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
