Rev. Roy R. McCarty Sr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 4th, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 18th, 1944 in Vinton, Ohio.

He was the former pastor of the Welcome Chapel Church in Oak Hill, Ohio where he faithfully served for 23 years. Other than pastoring, Roy was also an auto body repairman; for which he was known for his skill and workmanship. A work which he performed most of his adult life.

He served his country in the United States Army from 1965-1968.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years and love of his life, Jill Dian (Perry) McCarty. Their love and devotion to each other was an inspiration to their family and to all who knew them. He is also survived by his children: son, Roy Jr. and daughter-in-law Tammy McCarty of Oak Hill, Ohio, son, James and daughter-in-law, Rhonda of Crown City, Ohio, son, Robert of Tallahassee, Florida, daughter, Melissa of Oak Hill, Ohio, son, Aaron and daughter-in-law, Melisa of Portage, Pennsylvania, son, Stephen McCarty and companion, Amanda of Richmond Dale, Ohio, and son, Michael and daughter-in-law, Tasha McCarty of Oak Hill, Ohio; grandchildren: Jimmy and Tiffany McCarty, Daniel McCarty, Joshua McCarty, Derek McCarty, Travis McCarty, Amanda McCarty (Anthony Dunlap), Jason and Theresa McCarty, Whitney Copeland, Bethanee Copeland, Weston Copeland, Breanna and Weston Stahl, Bethany McCarty, Ethan McCarty, Ean McCarty, Tyler McCarty, Kaylee McCarty, Ellie- Lynn McCarty, Emelia McCarty, Elisabeth McCarty, Easton McCarty, Alli Tobert, and Peyton Tobert; great-grandchildren: Isaiah McCarty, Kassidy McCarty, Morgan McCarty, Olivia McCarty, Bryor McCarty, Deaglan Dunlap, and Colt, Liam, Kenzie, and Dalton McCarty; two brothers: Okey and sister-in-law, Diane McCarty of Oklahoma, Edward “Henry” and sister-in-law, Kathie McCarty of New Vienna, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his mother, June Webb McCarty Bishop; sister, Geneva McCarty Holley; brothers, John McCarty and James “J. P.” McCarty; grandson, Jacob McCarty; and granddaughter, Emileigh McCarty.

Roy loved his family and loved having them near. He invested in them and gave them all he could. The highlight of his life was spending time with his family. He loved the large family gatherings at the family home each year on Thanksgiving Day.

Friends and family may visit on Tuesday, July 7th, 2020 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at C.M. Cemetery.
