Dennis “Denny” Walter Leslein, age 71, of Jackson, formerly of Columbus, passed away suddenly early Thursday, April 30, 2020 at his home in Thurman. He was born May 3, 1949 in Columbus, to the late Frank and Martha (Proffett) Leslein.

In addition to his parents, Denny is preceded in death by his brothers, Frank R. Leslein and Jack Leslein; and a sister, Linda Rice.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rushie (Crum) Leslein, whom he married on June 8, 1968 in Columbus. He is also survived by his son, Joseph Walter Leslein; daughter, Jacqueline Denise Leslein; grandchildren, Zackery Shepard, Abby Leslein and Chandler Leslein; sister, Marilyn (Larry) Hiles; sisters-in-law, Betty Crum, Ann (Rick) Garren and Shirley Leslein; brother-in-law, Butch Rice and numerous other relatives and friends.

Denny graduated from South High School in 1967, he then went on to work with the City of Columbus Traffic Division until his retirement. He then started his own home remodeling business, where he loved to build, remodel and design. He enjoyed the casinos, maybe a bit too much. He loved sports, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Minnesota Vikings. He always loved to make people laugh with a good joke and sometimes even a bad joke. He was a big man with a sensitive nature. He was never wrong and would gladly tell you so. Any job that he started had to be perfect. Denny had his faults, as many do, but he always loved his wife and children and grandchildren although sometimes he had a hard time showing it. In all he was a good man and a great husband and father. He will be dearly missed.

Private funeral services will be held by the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson with Pastor Bill Zink officiating. After the services, Denny’s wishes are to be cremated. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
