Robert “Bo” Thurston, 78, of Oak Hill, Ohio passed away at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis, Ohio on Friday morning, September 23rd, 2016. He was born December 29, 1937, son of the late Charlie and Hattie (Varney) Thurston. A 1956 graduate of Oak Hill High School, he excelled at football and baseball. He was a decorated U.S. Army (Retired) Veteran serving over 23 years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching his favorite sports on TV. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife Patricia; his twin brother Richard, brothers Harold, Edward, Paul, Mike, Roy; sisters Nellie Kennedy, Margaret Griffin, Brenda Thurston. He is survived by wife Janet (Shaffer) Thurston; daughters Robin (Ron) Lax; Theresa (Joe) Lowery; step-daughter Alana (Charles) Williams; grandchildren Brittany Gibson, Cory Lax, Austin White, Patricia Lax, David Lowery, Jackie Lowery; step-grandchildren Amanda and Dana Williams and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and special niece Judy Brooks.

Calling hours will be observed on Saturday, September 24 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Oak Hill. Funeral services will be conducted immediately following the viewing with Pastor Bobby Porter officiating. In keeping with “Bo’s” wishes, he will be cremated.
